Curriculum design

The two year full time MBA programme is spread over 4 semesters. During the first two semesters the students are exposed to the basics of general management underlying different operational functions of corporate management through core subjects. In the third semester the students are permitted to choose electives suitable to their personal interest leading to specialization in any functional area of management viz. Finance, Marketing, Human resources, Operations and Systems. The fourth semester is completely meant for project work.

Evaluation : Evaluation is based on the continuous internal and external assessment. The ratio of the internal and external assessment is 20:80. The external assessment is done through the written examination conducted by Anna University at the end of each semester. Internal assessment is based on the internal tests conducted regularly and the skill exposed through their participative learning.

Summer training and final projects : On completing the second semester, the students are placed in industrial and professional enterprises for practical training with a view to get them exposed to corporate realities and try their hand in assisting the management in their various decisions. Besides assisting them in their policy implementation and execution process the students are undergoing another project assignment in reputed industrial concerns during the fourth semester. It provides them ample scope to understand the intricacies of management in the real life situation.

Industrial visits and seminars : Industrial visits are often arranged to get the students exposed to corporate environments. Further, the department conducts many seminar programmes by inviting the management practitioners from various professional and business organizations to share the ideas and experiences with the aspiring managers in order to strengthen the awareness and enrich their knowledge to fit them into the demanding business world. The salient operative features of the programme are participative learning through group discussions, role play, case studies, brainstorming sessions, stress management programmes, and performance in simulated business environment through business games, and sharing the ideas and experiences among students and expert academicians.

Admission to SVCET MBA is based on the UG score of the candidate and entrance test conducted by consortium of self financing colleges for the management quota.

For the Government quota the admission is based on the TANCET conducted by the Tamilnadu Government.
